The Next Doctor Clip on CiN

A clip of this year's Christmas Special is to be shown as part of Children In Need night. The special clip is of the first 2 minutes of 'The Next Doctor' starring David Tennant and David Morrisey. As well as that, these pictures have been released, presumably from the special clip:This looks as if David Morrisey's character recognises the Doctor. Another hint at him being the 11th Doctor maybe? The Doctor looks rather shocked at something and David Morrisey's character is holding his arm out. But what's in his hand? Sonic screwdriver? Also, John Barrowman (best known for playing Captain Jack Harkness in Doctor Who and Torchwood) is set perform his new single "What About Us?" live.
Children In Need is on 14th November, BBC One from 7:00pm onwards into the night.

Rumoured Children In Need Scene

I'm sure you've all seen somewhere that this year there will be a Children in Need related scene of Doctor Who. However, there are rumours that it may be crossing over with the BBC show Ashes to Ashes (the spin-off series of Life on Mars).

The announcement for this year's Children In Need says this:
“There are some Children In Need-themed scenes from Doctor Who and Ashes To Ashes, a musical extravaganza from Albert Square, featuring the cast of EastEnders, and a special edition of Junior Masterchef.”

Let's hope this rumour is true!

CONGRATULATIONS BILLIE!

Billie Piper has delivered her first baby! Speaking outside the private Portland Hospital, Billie's husband, actor Laurence Fox (who she married at the begining of this year), said, "I feel fantastic!"

The baby, as you can probably guess by this post's banner, is a boy. Recently, Billie said she was apprehensive about the birth:
"Some women are all about this glowing, blooming thing, aren't they? I haven't really tapped into that. I've basically replaced all my vices for a new one - control. I've had about 10 scans and I bought one of those baby heart monitor things. Such a bad idea - its like listening to a huge shell on the beach. But I do love it. The whole thing is just so sweet, tender and adorable."

When asked about if they had chosen a name yet, Laurence replied, "It's a private moment."

Congradulations to Billie and Laurence!

Doctor Who and Torchwood 2009 Reads

BBC Books have released names and some details on upcoming Doctor Who and Torchwood books:

Doctor Who books
  • The Taking of Chelsea 426 - by David Llewellyn
  • Autonomy - by Daniel Blythe
  • The Krillitane Storm - by Christopher Cooper

Torchwood books

  • Into the Silence - by Sarah Pinborough
"The body in the church hall is very definitely dead. It has been sliced open with surgical precision, its organs exposed, and its vocal cords are gone. It is as if they were never there or they've been dissolved... With the Welsh amateur Operatic Contest getting under way, music is filling the churches and concert halls of Cardiff. The competition has attracted the finest Welsh talent to the city, but it has also drawn something else - there are stories of a metallic creature hiding in the shadows. Torchwood are on its tail, but it's moving too fast for them to track it down. This new threat requires a new tactic - so Ianto Jones is joining a male voice choir..."

  • Bay of the Dead - by Mark Morris
"When the city sleeps, the dead start to walk... Something has sealed off Cardiff, and living corpse are stalking the streets, leaving a trail of half-eaten bodies. Animals are butchered. A young coupe in their car never reach home. A stolen tugboat is brought back to shore, carrying only human remains. And a couple of girls heading back from the pub watch the mysterious drivers of a big black SUV take over a crime scene. Torchwood have to deal with the intangible barrier surrounding Cardiff, and some unidentified space debris that seems to be regenerating itself. Plus, of course, the all-night zombie horror show. Not that they really believe in zombies."

  • The House that Jack Built - by Guy Adams
"Jackson Leaves - an Edwardian house in Penylen, built 1906, semi-detached, three storeys, spacious, beautifully presented. Left in good condition to Rob and Julia by Rob's late aunt. It's an ordinary sort of a house. Except for the way the rooms don't stay in the same places. And the strange man that turns up in the airing cupboard. And the apparitions. And the temporal surges that attract the attentions of Torchwood. And the fact that the first owner of Jackson Leaves in 1906 was a Captain Jack Harkness..."

The 3 Doctor Who books are set for release some time in Autumn 2009 and the Torchwood books will be released 29th May 2009.
I will post the covers for all 6 books and details on the Doctor Who books once they are released.

Seven Doctors?

The Telegraph have reported that 7 of the 10 Doctors are "set for reunion". An insider at the BBC has apparently told them this: "It's a pretty ambitious idea and it's still being finalised. Everything is being kept under wraps but Doctor Who fans are in for a big treat."

All the Doctors, apart from William Hartnell, Patrick Troughton and Jon Pertwee, are to return in one big special episode for BBC's Children In Need on November 14th. However, I think I have spotted a hole in their story. Didn't Russell T Davies say himself that they had not had any time for a Children In Need special this year, but that Doctor Who would simply play a part?

Also, the Telegraph reported that the 10th Doctor himself, David Tennant, had not yet decided whether or not he would be in Series 5. But RTD has also said he knows when David is to leave. How can he know and not David Tennant? This doesn't add up.
