New Eleventh Doctor Costume?

Remember quite a few weeks back when Matt Smith mentioned to BBC's entertainment news correspondent Lizo Mzimba that he was having a costume fitting for Series 6 because he wanted a warmer coat?

Well, now we have our very first (and fleeting) glimpses of the new coat from the filming of this year's Christmas special, and it seems any fan of the tweed jacket won't be too disappointed as the new coat isn't actually that much different. We can also see the Eleventh Doctor's red bow tie will be staying!
Bow ties are cool...

Hold on, no fez?

What are your thoughts on the new jacket?

New Torchwood Members?

Michael Ausiello, of Entertainment Weekly.com, has published details on a few of the main characters that will appear in the next series of Torchwood after being asked in an online Q&A with him.

Ausiello was asked, "Any whisperings on the new Torchwood you’d care to share?"

He replied: "Whisperings? More like shoutings. Among the casting intel I’ve gathered on the new season (airing on my new favourite cable network, Starz), the show is out to cast a new series regular — Rex Matheson, a wickedly funny (operative word: wicked) CIA agent born to make waves. Almost as key to the new season are recurring characters Esther Katusi, a CIA grunt in her early 20s who learns what she’s really made of only when she’s forced to, and Oswald Jones, a convicted murderer and pedophile who will be as shocked as anyone to learn how easily infamy and fame can be exchanged for one another."

Do not take this as any official confirmation as it certainly is not and I certainly don't think good old 'Rusty' Davies would have a new Torchwood member as a paedophile. It has been bandied about that a casting call for the US version of Channel 4's [excellent] Shameless has been mixed up with that of a Torchwood one, and this supposed "convicted murderer and paedophile" character does, I think, fit in with a comedy like Shameless. Then again I also cannot for the life in me see CIA members appearing in any version of Shameless, so maybe different characters for different shows have cropped up in media circles and Michael Ausiello is confusing them? It certainly seems more probable.

In other Torchwood news, both John Barrowman (Captain Jack Harkness) and Eve Myles (Gwen Cooper) have now confirmed that filming on Torchwood Series 4 begins January 2011 and is expected to broadcast in Summer 2011.

The Competitions Are Back!

Yes, just so you all know, everybody, the Doctor Who Fansite competitions are back! I used to do the competitions of "Caption Competition" and "Think You're A Real Fan?" every week and after a while they sort of faded away and I stopped updating them.

However, now I do have enough time to update them each week so they 're returning! Please feel absolutely free  to enter your ideas and answers for the two weekly competitions, which will be changing/updating each Wednesday.

The winner of each competition each week will win an extra point to their name on the leaderboard.

Series 5 TARDIS Playset

A photo of the Series 5 TARDIS playset has emerged, taken at the Character Options stand at London's Christmas recently in July 2010.
This photo is courtesy of doctorwhotoys.net and I claim no ownership over it.

Nothing of this playset has been officially released by Character Options, but I imagine it would be released sometime late Summer, but much more likely in Autumn as they'll want it out in time for Christmas.
It isn't entirely accurate, no, but that certainly won't stop me getting it!
