Starz: Torchwood may not return in 2012

The CEO at Starz, Chris Albrecht, has said that despite any form of success of Torchwood: Miracle Day, the show may not actually be certain to return next year, regardless of immense popularity. He emphasised – at the TV critics tour event - that much of Torchwood’s future i dependant on writer and showrunner Russell T Davies and whether he can come up with a story for the show that Starz deem good enough.

He said: “Torchwood is not one of the show we went into thinking about a yearly return. It’s about Russell T Davies … he has a lot of things on his plate. If Torchwood is at the top of his list, that will effect the future of Torchwood.”

Let’s hope Mr Albrecht sees sense very soon!

  1. great show. Superior writing and acting. Bravo!!! Could off livd without the boy on boy action, but he is so likable and good looking. Well done. And very creative.

  2. Plot was great. I am not a fan of mini series where if you miss an episode you are lost. I am a great fan of torchwood earlier series!! Different stories in a main theme!! I also could do without the Gay overtones!! All in all I agree Bravo and keep up the good work

  3. Seriously, It would be very disappointing if they didn't continue the series! It's a great show, my favorite so far!!! PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE continue writing.

  4. I love Torchwood and hope it returns for several more series. Jack Harkness and Gwen Cooper are two of the most compelling characters in TV history. Hope RTD finds the time to work on this soon.

Do you want Christopher Eccleston back for the 50th Anniversary?
YES!! - That would be absolutely brilliant!
Not sure - I'm not bothered either way, to be honest...
No - it's good to see the back of 'im!
