Richard Curtis Writes for Series 5?

The Sun - tabloid, red-top, 'newspaper' notorious for picking false rumours out of the ether - have reported that Richard Curtis, best-known for writing big-hit comedy TV shows and movies such as Black Adder, The Vicar of Dibley and Love Actually, will be writing an episode of Doctor Who for Series 5.

This article seems more plausible than their usual claims though (a particularly funny one claims that Woody Allen is the Eleventh Doctor) because, apart from the odd "Insiders have suggested...", this time they have quite a few quotes from Curtis himself, who says, "There will be a monster. And a famous historical figure will battle the monster." And according to The Sun: "Insiders have suggested the historical figure could be the scheming Sir Edmund Blackadder."
Try not to laugh too hard.

"Played bv Rowan Atkinson, the character appeared in four series that spanned eras including The Regency and World War One before being axed 20 years ago. He was assisted by bungling sidekick Baldrick (Tony Robinson), famed for his 'cunning plans'."

Curtis says he signed up to write Doctor Who in order to impress who are big fans of Doctor Who: "It's tremendously good fun and a treat for my children. These days the things you can watch together as a family are much fewer so when you get something like Doctor Who or The X Factor it is such a pleasure to sit down as a family. I am very interested in time travel for some reason or other. I am writing a film about it but on a low budget with no spectacular special effects. Maybe it's a desire to get out of being old. Sometimes you do just love the idea that you could go back in time and change things."
