A Point Of View discusses Sherlock Holmes

Earlier this evening, BBC Radio 4’s discussion programme A Point Of View – that delivers weekly reflections on topical issues – gave us a reflection on ‘Sherlock Holmes and the Romance of Reason’.

“John Gray reflects on the enduring appeal of Sherlock Holmes at a time when we've lost confidence in the power of reason alone to solve problems.”

The contributor for this instalment, political philosopher and author John Gray, gives frequent mention to the modern-day revival of the Conan Doyle literary legend, Sherlock – created by Doctor Who stalwarts Steven “The Moff” Moffat and Mark Gatiss – and investigates the depiction of Holmes’ science of deduction.
