Richard E. Grant to play a “villain” in 2012 Christmas Special

Steven “The Moff” Moffat was interviewed today on BBC Radio 5Live, conducted by Richard Bacon, and revealed that the character who classical and well-known British actor Richard E. Grant will be playing will be a villain.

When asked about the actor’s role in this year’s Christmas Special, Moffat replied: "Richard [E. Grant] plays a fantastic villain"

The official BBC Doctor Who website blog revealed the casting of Richard E. Grant in the festive episode last week. The episode is the first to feature newcomer Jenna-Louise Coleman as the new companion Clara, and is currently being filmed in and around Cardiff and Bristol. The locations are being disguised as areas of Victorian-era Yorkshire in the industrial age of Britain, which- it is rumoured – Clara is from.

The 2012 Christmas Special will broadcast this December, on Christmas Day, as production crew papers have confirmed.

I don’t know why his skin is glowing blue in the picture, either.
